What is the James H. Groves Adult High School?
  James H. Groves Adult High School is a secondary school for adults who have not finished high school.  The school is approved by the Delaware State Board of Education and accredited b the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.
How do I enroll?
 
1. Call 856-9035 to register for an Information Session.
2, At the Information Session, you will be given an Enrollment Application Packet.
3. Submit your completed Enrollment Application Packet.
4. You will be scheduled for an Orientation.
5. Attend the Orientation.
6. Your classes will begin within a week or two of the Orientation.
What are the requirements?
  Like all high schools in the state, students must have a total of 22 credits to graduate with 4½ as electives and 17½ credits prescribed by the Delaware State Board of Education.  Required Courses include:
   
English ............................ 4 credits

Graduate

Social Studies* ............. 3 credits
Mathematics** ............... 4 credits
Science ........................... 3 credits
Career Pathways........... 3 credits
Computer Literacy ........ 1 credit
Health............................... ½ credit
  *Including 1 credit of U.S. History
**Including 1 credit of Algebra 2
How can I earn credits to graduate?
  Credits can be earned in any of the following ways:
  • Passing Groves classes
• Employment experience
• Military training
• Higher education courses
• High school courses taken previously
• Volunteer experience
How long will it take me to earn my diploma?
  You will be in classes where you will work at your own pace. When you finish depends on the following factors:
  • How many credits you have already earned.
• How much information you know.
• How quickly you work through the material.
• How motivated you are.
• How often you attend classes.

  What is the Even Start Program?
    Even Start is a family education program where family members:
• Learn together
• Share reading and conversation
• Join in fun learning activities
• Help children succeed in school
The Even Start program is available on Monday and Wednesday evenings in Bridgeville at Laverty Lane Housing Development. This program is partially funded through the Arsht-Cannon Fund at the Delaware Community Foundation.  Call 856-9035 to enroll.  Classes are free.
English-as-a-Second Language (ESL)
  Free classes are held in Bridgeville and Georgetown.  Call 856-9035.
