DIETARY ASSISTANT Certificate Program ~ 156 hours Program Includes
This program will teach the skills necessary to get a job in institutional food service (primarily health care) to help dietary staff provide healthy, safe, and nutritious food. Duties of a Dietary Assistant usually include interacting with clients and/or patients and performing various food production and service tasks. The demand for dietary assistants is increasing. A National Certification Examination is included.

ELECTRONIC HEALTH RECORDS SPECIALIST Certificate Program ~ 160 hours Program Includes
Hospitals and doctors’ offices are changing how they keep records. In the next five years most records will be kept electronically. You can learn how this process works now and be prepared for a new career in a fast-growing area. You will learn about the health professions, computer applications, and technical information about electronic health records. A National Certification Examination is included.

Students will learn to use ICD and CPT coding and prepare medical billing. Charting will be taught, along with understanding diagnostic information. MENTAL HEALTH TECHNICIAN - Certificate Program  ~ 156 hours Program Includes
Certified Mental Health Technicians (CMHT’s), also called psychiatric aides, can add job security, higher salary, and open doors to unique job opportunities. CMHT’s work with mentally challenged, emotionally disturbed, or psychiatric patients under the supervision of a psychiatrist, registered nurse, or social worker. They participate in developing and carrying out therapeutic treatment plans for patients with emotional disabilities, dementia, or Alzheimer’s disease. The cost of the program includes registration for a National Certification Examination.

NURSING ASSISTANT Certificate Program ~ 150 hours

 
This program is designed to prepare students for the State of Delaware Certification Examination to become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). You will be scheduled for a required minimum of 150 hours of training. Seventy-five hours of classroom and lab training will be conducted at Sussex Tech. There will be an additional 75 hours of clinical training performed at local health care facilities. Most nursing assistant training and positions require the ability to lift. This course is taught by a team of registered nurses from our area with experience in many different patient care settings. Upon successful completion of the course, you must pass both the written and skills state tests to become certified. Criminal background check, drug screen and tuberculin skin test are required prior to entry into the program. An orientation session is required for this program.

PROGRAM MAKE-UP HOURS
All missed scheduled classrooms or clinical hours must be made up prior to course completion. There is a $45 per hour charge when more than six hours have been missed.

There will be a limited number of tuition-assisted enrollments provided with funding from the Delaware Workforce Investment Board. Students will be selected based upon the eligibility criteria. This approved Workforce Investment Act program is an equal opportunity program.

This program helps you learn the skills to work in an eye doctor’s office.
