Program Includes
This program helps you learn the skills to work in an eye doctor’s office. You will learn about optics, eye exam procedures, important instruments, medical terminology, ethics, confidentiality laws, and the role of the Ophthalmic Aide.  REHABILITATION THERAPY AIDE Certificate Program ~156 hours
Program Includes
As a Rehabilitation Therapy Aide, you would work closely with Physical Therapist and Occupational Therapist to help patients. You will learn anatomy, medical terminology, ethics, confidentiality laws, and the role of the Rehabilitation Aide in physical and occupational therapies. An externship, if available, will allow you to be involved first hand in the profession.

With the increased focus on “green” energy and technology, Sussex Tech has modified the Multicraft Maintenance Specialist program to meet this growing demand. We refer to the “green” movement as an energy efficient environment, or E2 Environment. Our new course, called the E2 Installation Skills Program is designed for individuals with some level of mechanical skill who are looking to add these technology skills. This is not intended to be an entry-level program for those who need to develop skills in a related area.

This course builds on Early Care and Education I and is approved through child care licensing in Delaware.  The hours can be applied toward relicensure or CDA (Child Development Associate) credentials. Tuition costs include pretesting, textbook, and all course materials.

DIETARY ASSISTANT Certificate Program ~ 156 hours Program Includes
This program will teach the skills necessary to get a job in institutional food service (primarily health care) to help dietary staff provide healthy, safe, and nutritious food. Duties of a Dietary Assistant usually include interacting with clients and/or patients and performing various food production and service tasks. The demand for dietary assistants is increasing.

Students will learn to use ICD and CPT coding and prepare medical billing. Charting will be taught, along with understanding diagnostic information. Included in the program will be anatomy, medical terminology, computer applications, ethics, confidentiality laws, and more. An externship will allow the student to observe billing and coding specialists in a work setting. A National Certification Examination is available.

NURSING ASSISTANT Certificate Program ~ 150 hours

 
This program is designed to prepare students for the State of Delaware Certification Examination to become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). You will be scheduled for a required minimum of 150 hours of training. Seventy-five hours of classroom and lab training will be conducted at Sussex Tech. There will be an additional 75 hours of clinical training performed at local health care facilities. Most nurse’s aide positions and clinical training require the ability to lift. This course is taught by a team of registered nurses from our area with experience in many different patient care settings. Upon successful completion of the course you must pass both the written and skills state tests to become certified. Background checks are required prior to clinical training. The orientation session is required for this program.

Clinical times for Evening classes are M, Tu, W, and Th from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
 
Day Classes - $1,699*
Clinical times for Daytime classes are M, Tu, W, Th from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

PROGRAM MAKE-UP HOURS
All missed scheduled classrooms or clinical hours must be made up prior to course completion. There is a $45 per hour charge when more than six hours have been missed.

There will be a limited number of tuition-assisted enrollments provided with funding from the Delaware Workforce Investment Board. Students will be selected based upon the eligibility criteria. This approved Workforce Investment Act program is an equal opportunity program.

* A payment plan of $499 down and four payments of $300 is available for evening classes.
* A payment plan of $599 down and four payments of $550 is available for daytime classes.
